## Description

Bosphorus Cup 2027: Thursday 16 – Saturday 18 September 2027, Istanbul. Source: bosphoruscup.org, checked 22 October 2026. The Bosphorus race day, its start time and any closure of the strait are not announced yet. In regatta week: a private yacht from €150 per hour (2-hour minimum, the whole yacht) or the shared sunset group tour at €34 per person in September. Short answer: The Bosphorus Cup sailing regatta runs from Thursday 16 to Saturday 18 September 2027; the organiser's banner names Istanbul, the Princes' Islands, the Bosphorus and Caddebostan. No 2027 schedule is published: not the Bosphorus race day, the start time, the race area or any closure of the strait (checked 22 October 2026). From 2023 to 2026 the Bosphorus race was on the Saturday, and in past editions the strait was closed to ship traffic during it, for about five hours in 2023 and 2024 according to press reports. In 2026, the 25th edition, 47 racing yachts started that race in front of Çırağan Palace. By yacht, regatta week is mostly about the evenings: private Bosphorus cruises for crews, families and sponsors. A race-day outing is possible only where the organiser and the maritime authorities allow it, and we never promise a viewing position. We update the table when the 2027 schedule and any closure of the strait are published. The regatta The Bosphorus Cup is an international sailing regatta in Istanbul, founded by Orhan Gorbon, with its first edition in 2002; recent editions have been held in September. The 2026 edition (17–19 September) was billed as the 25th. The 2026 Notice of Race names ORG Sports and VİRA Yachting & Rowing Club as organisers, in cooperation with the Türkiye Sailing Federation; the site's footer lists ORG Sports as "Rights Holder & Event Organizer" and VİRA as "Event Organizer". The 2026 programme, a pattern rather than a 2027 plan: skippers' briefing at the Istanbul Sailing Club on Wednesday 16 September, racing on the Sea of Marmara off Kalamış on Thursday, around the Princes' Islands on Friday, and the Bosphorus Race and prize giving on Saturday 19 September, with six races scheduled over the three racing days (organiser's 2026 racing schedule and Sailing Instructions). The 2026 race centre was at the Istanbul Sailing Club in Kalamış, on the Asian side. The organiser's release counts 47 yachts at the start of the 2026 Bosphorus Race. The organiser's general description mentions nearly 70 yachts, more than half of the participants from abroad; that is not a 2026 count. Race days on the water: what is announced and what is not Not announced for 2027 (checked 22 October 2026): the Bosphorus race day, start time, course, race area, any restricted zone and any closure of the strait. The 2026 Notice of Race came out on 24 February 2026; the 2027 one may come out at a similar time, but that is an inference from 2026, not an announcement. The day. From 2023 to 2026 the Bosphorus race was on the Saturday, the last racing day (23 September 2023, 21 September 2024, 20 September 2025, 19 September 2026). The 2027 dates also end on a Saturday, 18 September, which would fit the pattern, but the organiser has not said so. The 2026 rules. Warning signal at 12:00, no warning signal after 15:00, and the race to be finished by 17:00. The racing area listed Ortaköy, Arnavutköy, Bebek, Aşiyan, Kanlıca, Anadolu Hisarı, Göksu, Küçüksu, Kandilli, Çengelköy and Beylerbeyi. The fleet started off Çırağan Palace, ran south to Dolmabahçe, north under the Bosphorus Bridge towards Arnavutköy, back to Dolmabahçe, then north to Anadolu Hisarı and south to the finish (organiser's release, 19 September 2026). No 2027 times are published. Ship traffic. In past editions the strait was closed to transit ships during the Bosphorus race: the organiser's founder letter and ORC (January 2026) describe it as sailed "with ship traffic suspended", and the 2023 and 2024 closures in the table come from press reports. We found no published closure times for 2026 and do not carry past times forward. For other sailing races on the strait, closures have been announced by the Directorate General of Coastal Safety (Kıyı Emniyeti); nothing is published for the 2027 Bosphorus Cup. Regatta week by yacht We are not part of the regatta and do not sell race access; a private yacht is for the time around the racing. Evenings for crews, families and sponsors. A two-hour private charter from Karaköy passes Dolmabahçe, Çırağan and the yalı mansions and turns at the two fortresses by the second bridge. It suits a crew dinner after racing, a thank-you evening for a sponsor's guests, or a family outing. Teams based on the Asian side can be picked up at Kadıköy on request, with a distance-based surcharge. For larger groups, up to 200 guests with our partner fleet, see the corporate dinner cruise. Couples and individuals can join the shared sunset group tour, about two hours from Karaköy with a live English-speaking guide, at €34 per person (children 3–7 €15). Race day, only where it is allowed. On request we can plan an outing on the Bosphorus race day, but only where the organiser and the maritime authorities allow vessels to be, and always outside the race area set on the day. We do not promise a viewing position, a distance from the fleet, or a view of the start or finish. In 2026 the Sailing Instructions kept even registered support vessels more than 150 metres from the racing yachts, and the organiser ran its own programme on the water; that programme is the organiser's, not ours. Route and timing are planned around the race area and confirmed in writing. Mid-September in Istanbul The regatta's last day, Saturday 18 September 2027, is also the opening day of the 19th Istanbul Biennial, which runs until 14 November (İKSV; checked 22 October 2026). Its main venue is Artİstanbul Feshane on the Golden Horn; other venues are not announced. Contemporary Istanbul has not announced its 2027 dates; TOBB's 2027 fair calendar lists it for 21–26 September at Tersane Istanbul. Our Istanbul art season 2027 page follows both. A private Golden Horn cruise fits the same week, but we do not land at Feshane, so plan your Biennial visit by land. Formula 1 follows on 1–3 October (see F1 Istanbul 2027), and everything else in September is in the September section of our events calendar. Prices, piers and booking for regatta week A private yacht is priced per yacht, not per seat: from €150 per hour with a two-hour minimum. The rate covers up to 12 guests, children included; each guest above 12 adds €25, once per charter. A crew of 20 for three hours is €450 + €200 = €650. Soft drinks are included; catering and alcoholic drinks are quoted separately. Boarding is at Karaköy, in front of Balıkçı Kemal restaurant; Kuruçeşme, Bebek, Beşiktaş, Kabataş and Kadıköy are available on request, with a distance-based surcharge in the written quote (see boarding points). On the Bosphorus race day the pier, route and departure time are planned around the race area. A late return after an evening event is possible on request, confirmed in writing. The written quote comes the same day; a deposit of at least 30% confirms the date. Regatta week is a fixed-date event, so the cancellation terms are stated in the written quote. Agencies booking for clients: yacht charter for travel agents. Every other 2027 date is in our Istanbul events calendar 2027. Constantine Yachts is an independent yacht charter company, not affiliated with the Bosphorus Cup, ORG Sports, VİRA Yachting & Rowing Club or the Türkiye Sailing Federation. Page last updated 22 October 2026. Dates checked against bosphoruscup.org on 22 October 2026. Bosphorus Cup 2027: Frequently Asked Questions When is the Bosphorus Cup 2027? Thursday 16 to Saturday 18 September 2027, in Istanbul, according to bosphoruscup.org (checked 22 October 2026). The Notice of Race and the day-by-day schedule are not published yet. Which day is the Bosphorus race in 2027? Not announced. From 2023 to 2026 it was the Saturday, which in 2027 would be 18 September, but the organiser has not confirmed it (checked 22 October 2026). Is the Bosphorus closed to ships during the Bosphorus Cup? In past editions, yes, during the Bosphorus race: from midday until 17:00 in 2023, and for five hours in 2024, as reported in the press. No closure day or times are announced for 2027. Where can you watch the Bosphorus race? From the shore. In 2026 the organiser ran a public fan zone at Akıntıburnu, Arnavutköy, on Saturday 19 September from 12:00 to 16:00; in 2024 Hürriyet Daily News named Ortaköy Square, Arnavutköy, Aşiyan and Göksu as viewing points. The 2027 viewing points are not announced. Can we watch the race from a private yacht? Only where the organiser and the maritime authorities allow it, outside the race area set on the day. We do not promise a viewing position, and we have no arrangement with the organiser. An evening cruise after the racing is the simpler option. How much is a private yacht in regatta week? From €150 per hour for the whole yacht, two-hour minimum, 12 guests included and €25 per extra guest, once per charter. The shared sunset group tour is €34 per person in September.
