The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) holds its Tulip Festival every April, but it has not published the 2027 dates, sites or programme (checked 22 October 2026). In 2026 the festival weekend was Saturday 11 – Sunday 12 April, with Emirgan Grove on the Bosphorus shore as the main site. To pair with a day among the tulips: a private yacht from Karaköy, from €150 per hour (2-hour minimum, the whole yacht), or the shared sunset group tour at €34 per person. Istanbul Tulip Festival 2027 dates announced? Not yet: no 2027 item from İBB and no press report of 2027 dates. İBB's Parks and Gardens Department runs the festival with its Culture Department. İBB calls it the Lale Bayramı, "held every April"; the press calls it the İstanbul Lale Festivali, or Istanbul Tulip Festival. There are two parts: the tulips on display in the parks, which in recent years were on show through April (İBB for 2023 and 2024, the press for 2026), and a festival weekend of events, on a Saturday and Sunday in mid-April in 2023, 2025 and 2026. İBB calls the tulip one of Istanbul's most important symbols and says the tulip festivities of the Lale Devri, the Tulip Era, can be taken as the starting point of its festival. The Tulip Era ran from the Treaty of Passarowitz (21 July 1718) to the Patrona Halil revolt (28 September 1730), under Sultan Ahmed III and his Grand Vizier, Nevşehirli Damat İbrahim Pasha, and is named after the tulip craze at the Ottoman court. Where to see the tulips Emirgan Grove (Emirgan Korusu) is the heart of the festival. It is a historic park of about 47 hectares (470,000 m²) in Emirgan, Sarıyer, on the European shore of the Bosphorus just north of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, the second bridge. It has three historic pavilions named after their colours, the Yellow, Pink and White Pavilions, and it is owned and run by İBB. In 2025 Emirgan had the largest planting of any festival site, 3.12 million tulips and other bulbs, and showed 100 tulip varieties (İBB, 24 April 2025). Emirgan is also where İBB planted 1,000 bulbs of the "Istanbul tulip" (Tulipa acuminata), a gift from the Dutch Consul General, on 3 December 2021; in 2024 İBB said the display continues there (2027 not announced). Emirgan's Şehir Hatları pier is a public ferry stop with infrequent services, not one of our piers: our yachts do not land at Emirgan. The other festival sites in recent years: Göztepe 60. Yıl Parkı, Kadıköy, inland on the Asian side: 2 million bulbs in 2025, the second-largest planting. Gülhane Park, Fatih, beside Topkapı Palace: 1.6 million bulbs in 2025. It is three T1 tram stops from Karaköy. Sultanahmet Square, Fatih, four T1 tram stops from Karaköy. Hıdiv Grove and the Khedive Palace (Hıdiv Korusu, Hıdiv Kasrı), above Çubuklu in Beykoz, on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus; the palace stands in a grove of about 110 hectares. These five were İBB's sites in 2023–2025 and in the 2026 press reports, which named Emirgan, Göztepe, Gülhane and Hıdiv as the four main centres. The 2027 sites are not announced. Emirgan and the Bosphorus by yacht The tulips are in the grove, so you see them on foot; the yacht is the other half of the day. From Karaköy our cruises run up the Bosphorus past Dolmabahçe, Ortaköy and Bebek to Rumeli Hisarı and Anadolu Hisarı, the fortresses at the second bridge, where a two-hour cruise, private or shared, turns back. Emirgan is just beyond the bridge, so to pass its shore, book a private cruise of three hours or more; the same goes for the Çubuklu shore below Hıdiv, further north on the Asian side. Morning in Emirgan, afternoon on the water. Walk the grove in the morning, reached by road, then board a private yacht at Karaköy for three hours or more, up past the second bridge along the Emirgan shore and back. The reverse order works too. Gülhane and Sultanahmet are three and four T1 tram stops from Karaköy, so a morning among the tulips there and a daytime cruise from Karaköy fit together without a car. An evening, shared. The shared sunset group tour runs daily from Karaköy for about two hours, with a live English-speaking guide: €34 per person from 19 March to 2 November, so all of April (children 3–7 €15, under 3 free). It turns back at the second bridge, so it does not pass Emirgan. We set the departure time with you. Road time between Emirgan and the pier varies, so leave a margin.
