New Year’s Eve on the Bosphorus, From the Water Instead of the Crowd

On 31 December, Istanbul lights up on both shores at once. Standing in the middle of the Bosphorus that night does not make you a spectator of that view — it puts you inside it. No restaurant queue, no table next to yours, no midnight traffic on the way home. Just your own group, the water, and the skyline of two continents.

What a Private Charter Means on That Night

Every Constantine Yachts charter is private. You are never placed on a shared boat with strangers, and New Year’s Eve is when that difference matters most. Departure time, route, music and menu are set around your group rather than around a fixed schedule that has to serve two hundred people.

On Board

  • Catering: Champagne and cocktail service, premium cheese and fruit platters, or a full private Istanbul dinner menu.
  • Atmosphere: Your own playlist and elegant ambient lighting.
  • Decoration: Table styling, floral and light decoration arranged on request.
  • Privacy: A dedicated, professional and discreet crew for the whole evening.

The Route After Dark

The course runs past Ortaköy and the Çırağan Palace waterfront and continues beneath the bridges. It is a familiar postcard by day; at night it becomes something else entirely. Palace façades throw their light onto the water, the bridges shift colour, and the two sides of the city are joined by nothing but illumination.

The route is not fixed. You can hold position at one spot for the evening, or keep moving the whole night — both work.

Who It Suits

  • Couples who would rather spend the last night of the year at a table for two than in a full dining room.
  • Families looking for an enclosed, calm setting without restaurant noise or a late drive home.
  • Groups of friends who want their own music, their own timing and their own pace.
  • Companies hosting an end-of-year team celebration or client evening on the water.

Booking and Availability

31 December is a single night and the fleet is finite. Yachts and time slots for that date fill quickly, so early planning is worth it.

New Year’s Eve charter starts from €900. That covers the yacht itself; catering, decoration and music are quoted separately based on what you choose.

New Year’s Eve Sailing Hours

The New Year’s Eve cruise typically runs from 10 PM to 2 AM, so you welcome midnight out on the water between the lights of both shores. If you would prefer different hours, we can shape the schedule together.

Get in touch for availability and departure times. We will put together a plan based on your group size, the level of catering you want, and when you would like to board.

On all other dates, private Bosphorus yacht charter starts from €150 per hour, with a two-hour minimum booking.

The Last Sunset of the Year

On 31 December the sun sets over Istanbul at around 17:45 — you can check the exact figure in our month-by-month Istanbul sunset times table. That early dusk works in your favour: by the time a New Year’s Eve cruise boards, both shores of the Bosphorus are fully lit, and the city spends the rest of the night showing off. If you would rather toast the year’s last daylight on the water, an early-evening sailing can be arranged the same way — tell us the hours you have in mind.

Keep in mind that New Year’s Eve is a single night with a limited number of yachts, so dates close well before the holiday week. A written confirmation is what locks your booking.

Booking direct — no agency in the middle. Booking sites do not sell what is on this page: they sell seats, we charter you the whole yacht. Write to us and no reseller takes a commission out of your budget, and your request does not pass through a middleman who flattens it into a standard package. Constantine Yachts is run by AST Turizm — TÜRSAB licence no. A-805, on the Bosphorus since 1967. Your date, your boarding time, your route and your extras are agreed with the same people who prepare the yacht.

Booking and cancellation. Cancellation terms for this date are set out in the written quote. If the captain cancels a departure for safety, you choose: another day or a full refund. Full terms in our FAQ.

Planning a celebration on a different date instead? The same boats can be rented as a private yacht in Istanbul year-round — birthdays, proposals, or no occasion at all.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What time does the New Year’s Eve cruise start and finish?

The programme typically runs from 10 PM to 2 AM, so you welcome midnight out on the water between the lights of both shores. If you would prefer different hours we shape the night around you – on 31 December we plan the schedule hour by hour rather than running a fixed departure.

Where will we watch the fireworks from?

The captain plans the route around the crowd rather than the clock. Before the fireworks start the yacht is moved to a spot where nothing is blocking your view, which is precisely what a fixed-route boat cannot do – there you watch from wherever you happen to be.

How is New Year’s Eve priced?

That night is priced as a single programme rather than by the hour, from €900 for the yacht itself. Catering, decoration and music are quoted separately based on what you choose. On every other date a private Bosphorus charter starts from €150 per hour with a two-hour minimum.

What should we wear on 31 December?

One more layer than you think. The December wind on the Bosphorus is sharper than it looks from the shore. There is an enclosed saloon so you are not stuck outside for four hours, but you will want to be on deck when the fireworks start.

How far in advance should we book New Year’s Eve?

Early. It is one night in the year, the hours are planned individually for each booking, and once the date is taken there is no alternative date to move to. A 30% deposit holds it and the balance is due before boarding.

    Are food and drinks included?

We build the plan around your group size, the level of catering you want and the time you would like to board; catering is quoted separately and agreed before you confirm, never added afterwards. You are welcome to bring your own drinks.

Can we do this with children?

Yes. The yacht is private, so the hours are built around your family rather than the other way round – if 10 PM to 2 AM is too late for young children we plan an earlier programme that does not run to midnight. Life jackets in children’s sizes are on board.

Could we take 30 December or 1 January instead?

Often the more relaxed night: the Bosphorus is empty, the lights are still up, and the charter runs at the standard hourly rate, from €300 for two hours. Worth knowing too that on 31 December the sun sets over Istanbul at around 5:45 PM, so an early evening cruise on the last day of the year is a third option at a fraction of the midnight price.
