New Year’s Eve Party Cruise, Istanbul

New Year’s Eve in Istanbul means crowds in every direction that matters. Taksim closes to traffic, hotel parties sell out in October, and the streets near the bridges are not somewhere you want to be at 23:45. A cruise is the way around all of it: you spend the night in the middle of the Bosphorus, watch the city light up from the water, and at midnight the fireworks along both shores go off around you rather than somewhere beyond a crowd.

This is the group version of the night — a full party with a show, a DJ and a dance floor, sold per person. Two ways to do the night

Both options sail on the same night, on the same schedule, with the same entertainment and the same midnight. The only real difference is whether you would rather be sitting down to a menu or standing with a glass.

Main course choices on the dinner menu

Turkey with Turkish rice, grilled chicken, grilled meatballs, grilled sea bream, or falafel. Tell us at booking if anyone in the party is vegetarian or has an allergy.

The night, hour by hour

• 21:00 — boarding at the pier in Karaköy, welcome cocktail in hand.
• Through the evening — the show programme runs in sets: whirling dervish ceremony, Turkish folk dance, Roman and Caucasian dance, a belly-dance group show and a solo dancer, and a rhythm drum set.
• 23:30 — party favours handed out: glasses, whistles, hats.
• Midnight — the countdown and a glass of champagne, with fireworks going up over the bridges and along both shores around the boat.
• Until about 02:00 — the DJ takes over and the dance floor runs, then back to the pier — ashore before the taxi queues become impossible.

The boat, honestly

This is a large party boat, not a yacht, and we would rather say so on the page than have you find out at the pier. It is heated, with an indoor hall for the colder part of the night and open deck for the fireworks, and it carries a proper stage, a sound system and a live show — none of which fits on a small vessel. That scale is the point of the evening: it is what makes the party a party and what makes €250 possible on the most expensive night of the year.

If a crowd is exactly what you are trying to escape, take the other page. On a private New Year’s Eve charter the yacht is yours alone from €900 total — which, for a group of four or more, lands close to the same money per head with nobody else aboard.

Dress code

Smart-elegant. Most guests dress up for the evening. Bring a coat you do not mind wearing on deck: the December wind on the Bosphorus is sharper than it looks from the shore, and you will want to be outside at midnight.

This is the single busiest night of the year on the Bosphorus and it sells out weeks ahead — book by late November if you can. Tell us how many of you there are and which option you want, and you get a written confirmation with the pick-up time for your hotel.

Frequently Asked Questions About the New Year’s Eve Party Cruise

What is the difference between the cocktail option and the dinner option?

The Cocktail Party at €250 per person is a standing party: cocktail-style food served continuously through the night, with the full show and a DJ. The Dinner at €400 per person is a seated New Year’s dinner with a full menu, plus exactly the same entertainment and the same midnight. Both run the same night on the same 21:00–02:00 schedule.

Can we actually see the fireworks from the boat?

Yes. At midnight the boat holds a position on the Bosphorus with the displays going up over the bridges and along both shores — one of the few places in the city where nothing is standing between you and them.

What time does it start and finish?

Boarding is at 21:00 and the boat is back at the pier at around 02:00. That is deliberately built to cover the whole midnight window, so nobody is travelling at the moment the year changes.

Are drinks included?

Unlimited local drinks — beer, wine and soft drinks — are included on both options, plus a glass of champagne at midnight. Imported and premium spirits are available to buy on board.

Is the hotel transfer really included?

Yes, round trip: pick-up before boarding and drop-off after the cruise. Your pick-up time is confirmed in writing once you book, based on where you are staying.

Is this a yacht?

No, and we would rather be straight about it. This is a large heated party boat with an indoor hall, an open deck and a stage — the size is what makes the show, the DJ and the €250 price possible. Our yachts are a different product: on a private New Year’s Eve charter you have the vessel to yourselves from €900 for the whole boat.

What is the dress code?

When should we book?

Weeks ahead. It is the busiest night of the year on the Bosphorus and the tables go early; late November is the sensible deadline. There is no second date to move to if it fills.

Is it better value than a private yacht?

It depends entirely on how many of you there are. Per person the party cruise is far cheaper, and it buys you a show and a dance floor. But the private charter is priced for the whole yacht from €900, so from about four people upwards the per-head difference narrows sharply — and then you are choosing atmosphere, not price.

Can children come?

It is an adult evening: a late night, a loud room and a bar. Families who want New Year on the water almost always take the private charter instead, where the hours can be moved earlier and the night does not have to run to 02:00.
