Short answer: In Istanbul, iftar is at the minute of the evening call to prayer (maghrib) set by Diyanet, Türkiye’s Presidency of Religious Affairs. When is Ramadan 2027?
1 Ramadan 1448 falls on Monday 8 February 2027. The first tarawih prayer is on the evening of Sunday 7 February, and the first suhoor is on the night of 7–8 February. This year Ramadan has 29 days: the last fast and the eve (arife) are on Monday 8 March, and Eid al-Fitr, Ramazan Bayramı in Turkish, is 9, 10 and 11 March, Tuesday to Thursday. The eve is a public half-holiday from 13:00, so the country is off from the afternoon of 8 March to the evening of 11 March. Laylat al-Qadr (Kadir Gecesi), the 27th night of Ramadan, is the night of Friday 5 March. The dates follow Diyanet’s calculated calendar, which Türkiye uses instead of moon sighting; other countries may differ by a day. For the rest of the year, see Türkiye’s public holidays in 2027.
How is the iftar time set?
Iftar begins with the evening call to prayer, at sunset. Diyanet announces the evening time as astronomical sunset plus a 7-minute safety margin, which is why the iftar minute in the table is a few minutes after the sunset shown on our Istanbul sunset times page. Because Ramadan 2027 falls at the end of winter, iftar is early: between 18:36 and 19:00 in February and just past 19:00 in the first week of March. The lights of the Bosphorus bridges come on around the call to prayer, so the table is served with that view.
Iftar on a yacht on the Bosphorus
An iftar on a private yacht works like this: departure from Karaköy about an hour before iftar; at the call to prayer the yacht slows in front of the Maiden’s Tower or in mid-strait and the table is served that minute; return two or three hours later, past the lights of Dolmabahçe and Ortaköy if you wish. The whole yacht is from €150 per hour, 2-hour minimum; the price is the same for up to 12 guests, and each guest above 12 adds €25 once. Soft drinks are included; the iftar menu (soup, pide, main course, dessert and similar options) is priced separately in the written quote. The yachts have an enclosed, heated saloon, so a February evening is not a problem. For a company, dealer or client iftar, see corporate yacht charter; for larger groups the 20-guest, 30-guest and 50-guest pages have sample budgets. Weekend evenings in Ramadan fill early; a deposit of at least 30% confirms the date, and cancellation terms are stated in the written quote.
Daytime Bosphorus cruises during Ramadan
For guests who are not fasting, cruises run as usual during Ramadan. A private daytime charter is from €150 per hour; the shared sunset group cruise leaves Karaköy every day and costs €26 per person until 18 March (€34 from 19 March). The group cruise is timed to sunset, so it is on the water at iftar time; it serves tea, Turkish coffee, lemonade and snacks, not an iftar meal. An iftar on board is only available on private charters.
Frequently Asked Questions About Iftar Times
What time is iftar in Istanbul today?
Ramadan 2027 has not started yet. The first iftar is on Monday 8 February at 18:36; the first suhoor is in the night of 7 to 8 February (imsak 06:35). Other days are in the table above; the time is Diyanet’s evening prayer time for Istanbul.
When does Ramadan 2027 start and end?
The first fast is on Monday 8 February 2027 (1 Ramadan 1448); the first tarawih prayer is on the evening of Sunday 7 February and the first suhoor on the night of 7–8 February. Ramadan lasts 29 days this year: the last fast is Monday 8 March, and Eid al-Fitr (Ramazan Bayramı) is 9, 10 and 11 March, Tuesday to Thursday.
When does suhoor end? What is imsak?
Imsak is the first time column in the table: 06:35 on 8 February, 05:57 at the end of Ramadan. Eating and drinking stop at that minute, so suhoor should be finished before imsak.
Is iftar at the same time across Istanbul?
Diyanet publishes one table for Istanbul; iftar is at the same minute on the European and Asian sides. The same time applies on a yacht in the middle of the Bosphorus, where you hear the call to prayer from Karaköy, Üsküdar and Beşiktaş one after another.
How does an iftar on a yacht work, and for how many guests?
You charter the whole yacht: from €150 per hour, 2-hour minimum; the price is the same for up to 12 guests, and each guest above 12 adds €25 once. Departure from Karaköy about an hour before iftar; the table is served at the call to prayer. Soft drinks are included; the iftar menu is priced separately in the written quote. Larger groups can be hosted on the bigger yachts in our partner fleet, up to 200 guests.
Can we charter a yacht during Eid al-Fitr 2027?
Yes. Eid is a public holiday on 9–11 March, with the afternoon of 8 March off as well; daytime and sunset charters run at the usual hours. For holiday dates like Eid, cancellation terms are stated in the written quote; a deposit of at least 30% confirms the date.
Last updated: 7 October 2026. The Diyanet table will be re-checked in January 2027.
