Istanbul in October 2027: F1, the Biennial and Republic Day

Short answer: October is the fullest month in our 2027 Istanbul events calendar. The Formula 1 Turkish Grand Prix runs from Friday 1 to Sunday 3 October at Istanbul Park in Tuzla, race on Sunday 3 October, with F2, F3 and, as reported, the Porsche Supercup. The XX World Water Congress follows on 4–8 October, and the Istanbul Jewelry Show holds its October edition on 6–9 October. The 19th Istanbul Biennial is open all month (18 September – 14 November). Republic Day is Friday 29 October; the holiday starts at 13:00 on Thursday 28 October, which makes a long weekend to Sunday 31 October, and in past years the evening ended with fireworks over the Bosphorus. The Akbank Jazz Festival (usually late September to mid-October) has not announced its 2027 dates; TOBB’s 2027 fair calendar lists the Bosphorus Boat Show sea edition for 16–24 October, but the organiser has not announced it yet (checked 22 October 2026).

F1 weekend, 1–3 October, and the week after

Formula 1 returns to Istanbul Park, in Tuzla on the Asian side: practice on Friday 1 October, final practice and qualifying on Saturday 2 October, the race on Sunday 3 October. F2 and F3 race the same weekend, with Istanbul as the F3 season finale; the Porsche Supercup is reported for the same weekend (Türkiye Today citing TOSFED, 16 October 2026), but Porsche has not published its 2027 calendar. The circuit is inland, so the race cannot be seen from the water. On request, a private yacht carries your group between a Bosphorus pier on the hotel side and Pendik or Tuzla: around two hours each way, depending on the yacht and the pier, with the last leg to the circuit by road, quoted in writing. Otherwise a yacht fits the evenings of race week, from Thursday 30 September to Sunday 3 October.

The XX World Water Congress opens the day after the race, Monday 4 October, and runs to Friday 8 October, co-hosted by IWRA, Türkiye’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, DSİ (State Hydraulic Works) and the Turkish Water Institute (SUEN). IWRA has not named the venue yet. In the same week, on 6–9 October, the Istanbul Jewelry Show (IJS) holds its October edition at the Istanbul Expo Center (İFM) in Yeşilköy (organiser’s site, checked 22 October 2026). For delegations, exhibitors and the agencies looking after them there is the corporate dinner cruise, quoted in writing.

Art and jazz

The 19th Istanbul Biennial, organised by İKSV and curated by LIU Ding and Carol Yinghua LU, runs from Saturday 18 September to Sunday 14 November 2027, so it is open through all of October. Its main venue is Artİstanbul Feshane, on the Golden Horn shore in Eyüpsultan; other venues are not announced. Entry is free, according to İKSV’s announcement of 15 October 2026. We do not land at Feshane or at any Golden Horn pier, so plan the visit itself by land; a private Golden Horn cruise from Karaköy, on its own or with the Bosphorus, fits the same day. The Akbank Jazz Festival (Akbank Caz Festivali), run by Akbank Sanat with BKM, has not announced its 2027 dates or line-up. The last two editions ran 27 September – 12 October 2025 and 26 September – 11 October 2026, at venues across the city, so late September to mid-October is the usual window.

Republic Day weekend, 28–31 October

Republic Day 2027 is Friday 29 October, the 104th anniversary. Under Law No. 2429 the holiday starts at 13:00 on Thursday 28 October, so the long weekend runs three and a half days, to Sunday 31 October (all dates on our Turkey public holidays 2027 page). Any day of it, from Thursday afternoon on, suits a daytime private cruise.

In past years the day ended with fireworks over the Bosphorus: there was a show on 29 October 2025, and in 2023 it was at the 15 July Martyrs Bridge, 19:50–20:15. The 2027 programme, start time and launch points are not announced; they usually come out shortly before the day, and our Istanbul fireworks calendar adds them then.

Our evening on the water is the Republic Day sailing from Karaköy. The shared sailing runs 19:00–21:00 at €34 per person (€40 with wine); sunset is at about 18:04, so it is dark well before boarding. The whole yacht is from €150 per hour with a 2-hour minimum, the same 19:00–21:00 slot. Earlier boarding is possible on request; the time goes into the written quote. The captain stays inside the area the authorities allow; we do not promise a distance or a viewing position. It is a fixed-date night, so the cancellation terms are stated in the written quote.

The Bosphorus Boat Show usually holds its sea edition in October (2026: 18–26 October, Ataköy Marina). TOBB’s 2027 fair calendar lists the 2027 sea edition for Saturday 16 to Sunday 24 October at Ataköy Marina, but the organiser’s own site has no 2027 sea dates yet (checked 22 October 2026), so the dates may still change. Despite the show’s name, Ataköy Marina is in Bakırköy on the Sea of Marmara shore, not on the Bosphorus. The Istanbul Marathon was held on the first Sunday of November in each year from 2023 to 2026 (1 November in 2026), so it is not an October fixture; the 2027 date is not announced.

October on the Bosphorus by yacht

Private yacht. Priced per yacht: from €150 per hour with a 2-hour minimum, from €120 per hour for six hours or more, a full day (8 hours) from €960. Up to 12 guests are included; each guest above 12 adds €25 once, and children count as guests. Twenty guests for three hours: €450 + €200 = €650. Soft drinks are included; catering and alcoholic drinks are quoted separately.

Daytime first. The days get shorter through the month: sunset at Karaköy moves from about 18:47 on 1 October to about 18:02 on 31 October. A daytime cruise slots easily into an October day, before a Biennial visit, on a free day in F1 week or over the long weekend; for the evening, groups book a dinner cruise. Times for any date: Istanbul sunset times.

Shared tour. The shared sunset group tour leaves Karaköy daily for about two hours: €34 per person until 2 November, so for all of October, then €26 from 3 November; children 3–7 €15, under-3s free. A live English-speaking guide, tea, Turkish coffee, lemonade, water, snacks and a printed souvenir photo are included. For the evening of 29 October, book the Republic Day sailing above.

Groups and booking. Groups of up to 200 guests sail with our partner fleet (corporate events, travel agents). Boarding is at Karaköy, in front of Balıkçı Kemal restaurant; please be at the pier 10 minutes before departure. Other piers (Kuruçeşme, Bebek, Beşiktaş, Kabataş, Kadıköy) are available on request, with a distance-based surcharge in the written quote. The quote comes the same day, and a deposit of at least 30% confirms the date. The F1 weekend and 29 October are fixed-date events, so their cancellation terms are stated in the written quote; ask early for both.
